How To Not Get Sick This Winter – 5 Easy Steps

Winter is about to return with a vengeance, and hot weather is beginning to feel like a thing of the past. You might not be a summer junkie, but even if you love the cold weather, it’s hard to stay healthy in winter. 1. How to not get sick this winter? – Exercise

 

The only time I get to exercise is at 6 in the morning. If I don’t get up in time, I just won’t have the chance to work out. In summer, getting up is tough, but doable. Winter, on the other hand, makes it seem all but impossible. The bed is just so warm and it’s still so dark outside!

 

However, I know that if I don’t get up, it’s more than just my great body I’m risking! Exercise strengthens your immune system, and helps you stay healthy. It also flushes bacteria out of your airways and lungs.

 

Be careful not to go overboard. If you exercise to the point that you feel weak for the rest of the day, you’re counteracting all the good work you’ve done.

 

  • Regarding exercising when you’re sick: you can continue working out at a reduced intensity if you have a stuffy nose or sore throat. Anything more and you absolutely must give it a break.

 

2. Sleep

 

On the other side of the spectrum, get some good rest in the winter months. While the average person sleeps 6 and a half hours a night, 7 to 9 hours is necessary to keep your body strong. Let’s face it, no one likes washing their hands in winter and we’re all guilty of sometimes wetting them for a second and calling them clean. But cold hands are the price you have to pay for a healthy body.

 

Another tip for hand hygiene is not to cough or sneeze into your hand. We were all told to do this when we were young, but everyone we trusted was wrong! You just end up contaminating your hands, while doing little to stop the germs spreading into the environment. Ideally, you have a tissue at hand. Alternatively, cough into your elbow.

 

4. Clean surfaces

 

With all the doors and windows closed, germs circulate like crazy. The people around you are also carriers, especially if they don’t take good care of their hands. It’s a good idea to be wary of surfaces. Desks, remotes, kitchen counters, and of course mobile phones.

 

You can try to stop these things from getting filthy, but don’t expect them to stay clean. You can, however, be careful of how you approach them. If you touch something that many others have used, don’t touch your face until you’ve washed your hands again.

 

Avoid using anyone else’s mobiles, unless you want the worst of their germs. Your own mobile might carry far more germs than a toilet seat, but at least they’re your own! Of course, you can do something about the germs on your mobile. Cleaning it with fluid is not really an option. 5. Boost your diet
